Water utility ratings: Tecate and Tijuana are different cases

Names and rating scales matter when interpreting water utility news.

Coverage: 1 min read

September coverage reported that Tecate’s CESPTE retained AA−(mex) with a stable outlook, highlighting no debt at the end of 2025. The reported assessment concerns its credit position.

A July Fitch document published through the Mexican Stock Exchange concerns CESPT, a different utility, upgraded to AA(mex). Similar names can cause confusion; the two entities’ figures are not interchangeable.
