May industry fell 4.2%: what the figure compares
An annual change in the original series describes neither the whole year nor the previous month.
September coverage of INEGI figures reported a 4.2% year-over-year decline in Baja California industrial activity in May 2026. Construction and manufacturing fell, while energy and related services increased.
INEGI distinguishes original and seasonally adjusted series, the latter helping examine short-term movement. Comparing May with the previous May answers a different question from comparing May with April after seasonal adjustment.
